Another young reader at NPL

Congratulations to Lincoln Pratt, age 4, who just completed the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program at the Newton Public Library. Lincoln’s favorite books were anything Paw Patrol.

Lincoln received a Dr. Seuss bag full of items to help him get ready for kindergarten, but the biggest headstart for school that Lincoln received was listening to 1,000 books. Studies show that the single biggest predictor of later success in school is being read to daily at home, and the 1,000 Book program is designed to encourage parents and caregivers to read every day with their children.
