In the May 16 edition, a police blotter entry incorrectly stated Megan D. Daniels, 31, of Newton and Natasha J. Cooper, 26, of Colfax had been evicted from a vacant rental property at 469 W. 24th St. N. in Newton for non-payment of rent. Daniels and Cooper were charged for allegedly trespassing on the property but were not former tenants of the house.

Paul Harold Chrismore, 78, of Newton passed away Tuesday evening, May 21, 2013 at his home in Newton.
Edward H. Keller Jr., the son of Edward H. Sr. and Maud May (Town) Keller, was born May 1, 1919, in Marion County. The family moved to Canada for three years and then returned to Decatur County, where Ed farmed with his father for several years.  He graduated from Leon High School in 1936. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1946 and then attended Iowa State College for one year. He began a career with the Maytag Company in 1947.

Randy Dee Sutphin, 59, of Clifton Hill, passed away May 21, 2013, at his home. Randy was born Nov. 4, 1953 in Newton to Raymond Dale and Marian Joyce St. John Sutphin.
