Newton Police Department

• Dion J. Innis, 26, of Rhodes, was charged with providing false identification at 11:33 p.m. Thursday. According to Newton police, officers made a traffic stop by Git-N-Go on East 17th Street South for no running lights on a 1999 Nissan Altima. The driver, Innis, initially provided a false name before telling officers his real name and admitting his license was suspended and possibly had an arrest warrant out in Polk County. Innis was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.

• Daniel L. Edwards, 47, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred at 11:14 p.m. Saturday. According to Newton police, an officer saw a brown Buick Regal driving with a barred driving status near the 500 block of South 11th Avenue West. After pulling the vehicle over, the driver, Edwards, told the officer he knew he wasn’t valid to drive but was unaware that he was barred. Edwards was arrested and transported to the Jasper County Jail.
