Blues Under the Blue Roof
6:30 p.m., four evenings in February — Join the South Skunk Blues Society at the Newton Public Library for four live musical performances in February. Performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and are free to attend. This concert series is made possible by the South Skunk Blues Society, Newton Arts connection, and the Newton Public Library Foundation. All ages welcome.

• Feb. 19 — The Blue Two, featuring Bob Dorr and Jeff Peterson
• Feb. 26 — Jodi Bodley and Dewey Cantrell
Teen Calligraphy Class
6 p.m. Feb. 8 — Teens in grades 7 through 12 are invited to join Youth Services Librarian, Phyllis Peter, for a lesson on calligraphy. Participants will create their own hand lettered work of art, perfect for decorating a room or as a unique Valentine’s Day gift. Spaces are limited and registration is required. Yoga at the Library
6 p.m. Feb. 13 — Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis, leads an introductory class for adults. No previous experience necessary. Attendees may bring a yoga mat or towel, if they wish. This event is sponsored by the Newton YMCA. Spaces are limited and registration is required to attend. Please call the library at 641-792-4108 to reserve your spot.
Flash Book Sale
Noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 20 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 21 —Support your library and pick up some great books. Join the Friends of the Newton Public Library for a book sale in the library meeting room, on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21. Most books will be individually priced at $0.50 each, or for $5 you will receive a Friends of the Library tote bag and all the books it can carry. Some exclusions may apply.
New App for
Downloading eBooks
We’re introducing a new way to download library ebooks and audiobooks. This new app offers a simpler way to download and read digital materials. Android and Apple users may download the free Libby by Overdrive app. It’s available in the iTunes or Google Play stores for quicker, easier downloading.
