DES MOINES —Young actresses will have a little bit more time before the “Waitress” auditions at the Des Moines Civic Center. “Waitress,” the Tony nominated musical that will be premiering at the Des Moines Civic Center on Dec. 5 to 10 is holding auditions to find two young girls to perform the role of “Lulu” for the duration of the engagement. Parents should mark their calendars because the auditions have been moved to Nov. 2 at the Civic Center.
The character of “Lulu” is a sweet and carefree 4 to 5-year-old who appears in the production’s finale scene. Qualified young girls should be shorter than 4’2” and no older than 5 years and 3 months. Individual applicants are welcome, as are sets of twins or siblings.
The “Search for Lulu” will be held in two sessions at the Des Moines Civic Center West Balcony Lounge, 221 Walnut St. The first session will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. The second session will be 1:30 to 3 p.m. Those auditioning will only attend one session. The audition will consist of the child reading two lines from the show. If possible, parents should bring a current headshot and resume for each child. Headshot, resume and prior acting experience is not required.
