Underwood leads C-M girls to first golf victory

BROOKLYN — Both Colfax-Mingo golf teams now have team wins this season after the Tigerhawk girls claimed their first victory of the season Monday at Brooklyn-Victor Country Club.

Freshman Delaney Underwood earned medalist honors with a 54 as the Tigerhawks won with a 321. BGM and North Mahaska did not have enough golfers for a team score.

Colfax-Mingo, which did not win a meet all of last year, also got a 78 from Skye Weber, a 90 from Camilla Schlasser and a 99 from Jasmine Riley.

The Tigerhawk boys finished third in the three-team meet, shooting a 191. Host BGM won with a 176, while North Mahaska edged Colfax-Mingo by a single stroke.

Senior Mason Mosher earned runner-up medalist honors with a 42, while senior Jacob Buehrer carded a 43.

Sophomore Jonathan Jacobs had his first counting score of the season with a 52, while seniors Jake Jeter and Zevin Lander both shot a 54. Freshman Ahren Teed had a non-counting 56.

The Tigerhawk boys play at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at Saydel’s Woodland Hills Golf Course.
