• Alcoholics Anonymous Beginner’s Support Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Temple in Prairie City.

• 2015 National Memory Screening Day will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at Park Centre, 500 First St. N in Newton. A WesleyLife healthcare professional screener will conduct the screening and discuss whether any memory concerns may simply be a normal part of aging. In addition to the exam, screeners will be discussing brain health and offering tips for successful aging, including ways to control risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease such as diabetes, obesity, depression, heart disease and high blood pressure.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at noon Thursday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Breaking Free women’s study will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hephzibah House, 721 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• OPEN Pasta Dinner will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Newton. All proceeds are used to bring an exchange student each year, as well as supporting other international projects. This year’s Ukrainian student will be at the dinner to meet and greet.

• Newton Main Street annual downtown trick-or-treat night will begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Candy and treats will be passed out by local businesses and organizations as kids walk around the downtown square and side streets.
