No one injured in Baxter barn fire

BAXTER — Baxter Fire Department was the first responder to a barn fire east of Baxter Friday afternoon, which left no one injured.

The 911 call came in at about 1:45 p.m. The barn, which stored hay, burned to the ground after several fire departments extinguished the blaze.

Baxter Fire Chief Dan Ritter said on scene he believes the fire was caused by spontaneous combustion of wet hay barrels, but it is still under investigation.

Colfax, Mingo, Melbourne, Rhodes and Haverhill Fire Departments also responded to the fire.
