• Piecemakers Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 501 E. 19th St. N. in Newton. This is the beginning of the 2015-16 year, so dues of $15 will be collected. • Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at noon Friday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Battlefield of the Mind women’s study will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Hephzibah House in Newton.

• Penny Bingo will meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Jasper County Senior Citizens Center, 702 E. Third St. S. in Newton.

• 2015 River to River Ride Car Show will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at Hawkeye Stages/Newton Convention & Visitors Bureau, 300 E. 17th St. S. in Newton. The 2015 River to River Retro Road Trip will make an overnight pit stop in Newton. A classic car show will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Hy-Vee will be grilling out for the event.

• Movie Night at the Library will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Baxter Community Library, 202 E. State St. Featured movie is Cinderella.

• Fall city-wide garage sale day will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday in Prairie City.

• Appliance/Scrap Metal Drop-off will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday at the city water tower in Prairie City.

• The 11th Annual “Off the Beaten Path” 6K trail race trail and 3K fun run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve, just north off of I-80 exit 179. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at Ahrens Access of the Preserve. The 6K trail race will kick off at 9 a.m. and the 3K will begin at 9:15 a.m.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Newton.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services, 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton.

• Maytag Reunion will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodland Park, N. 19th Ave. W. in Newton. All former Maytag employees, families and the public are invited. Bluegrass Band Highway Home will perform from 1 to 3 p.m. Food will be available by Domino’s Pizza and Mississippi Queen BBQ. Please bring lawn chairs.

• Monthy Blue Grass Music Jam Session and Potluck will begin at noon Saturday at Jasper Couty Senior Citizens Center, 702 E. Third St. S. in Newton. All blue grass and country music fans are invited.

• Alice’s MaD hAtTeR tEa PaRtY! will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hunter Mansion, 223 W. Fourth St. S. in Newton. RSVP, so your presence is planned. Tickets: $18 per guest

• 4-H (Horseless) Horse Project Group Meeting for 4-12 Grades will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jasper County ISU Extension Office, 550 N. 2nd Ave. W. in Newton.

• Thrivent Financial Food Drive and Concert begins at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, 309 E. Third St N. in Newton. The Highway Home bluegrass band will perform. • The Loynachans Gospel Trio in Concert will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at Kellogg Christian Church, 321 Bolton St. During intermission, Anna Barr will be speaking about her recent trip to Guatemala. Doors open at 4 p.m. Free will offering.

• Misgivings Fall: The Band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at The VFW Post 1655 in Newton.

• Prairie City Fire Department Annual Car Show will meet at noon Sunday at 203 E Jefferson St, Prairie City, Iowa 50228, in Prairie City.

• Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.
