Troy Peterson

Troy Peterson, 47, formerly of Newton, died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 11, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Progress Industries may be left at the funeral home.

Troy, the son of Edward and Dixie (Westercamp) Peterson, was born on May 24, 1966, in Newton. Troy graduated in 1984, from Newton High School to a standing ovation from his classmates, who called him PetesKow. He had been a client of Progress Industries in Newton and had lived in other facilities throughout the state of Iowa. Troy was very involved with the Newton Kart Klub with his dad, Ed, had played drums starting in junior high, and was a member of the KISS Army.

Troy enjoyed going to many concerts and in addition to KISS was a huge Ozzy fan. He was also a lifelong Doug Wolfgang fan. Troy always had a walkman and many CD’s with him and loved listening to old rock and roll music. He was loved by many people and enjoyed making new friends.

Troy is survived by his mother, Dixie Peterson of Newton; brothers, Corey Peterson of Newton, Kelly Peterson of Texas, and Kurtis Peterson of Newton; his two nephews, Josh (Melissa) Peterson of Newton and Christopher (Elizabeth) Johnson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and his great-nieces and nephews; and his aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Peterson in 2005, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
