Trio Matisse to perform as part of JCCA 2013-2014 season

Trio Matisse will be the second group featured in the 2013-2014 Jasper County Concert Association lineup.

The flute, cello and harp combo will perform at 7 p.m. Monday at the Newton Senior High School Center for Performance. Season tickets are $35 for adults, $75 for families and $10 for students.

Trio Matisse takes name and inspiration from the bright, expressive colors found in French painter Henri Matisse’s works. Each Trio Matisse member is an accomplished soloist in classical and original music compositions with performances on prestigious world stages. Music ranges from the dreamy pastels of impressionist composer Claude Debussy to Appalachian folk music and vibrant popular tunes.

Linda Chatterton, flutist and trio leader, a Yamaha Performing Artist, has performed in New York at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall.

Harpist Rachel Brandwein is a professor of harp at College of St. Benedict and St. John’s University. She has performed throughout the U.S. and through invitational performance at the Ninth World Harp Congress in Dublin, Ireland. She won awards from renowned Juilliard and Stony Brook University.

Cellist Joel Salvo, a part of the musical community in Cleveland, Ohio, for many years was a member of the Cleveland orchestra and Opera Cleveland. Now living in Minneapolis, Salvo maintains an active performing career in the Twin Cities as a chamber musician, soloist and member of Ensemble 51, a contemporary music group. His degrees are from the Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music, the University of Michigan and his doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
