PCM moves to 4-0 on road with big win over Clarke

OSCEOLA — Prairie City-Monroe’s Mustangs dusted themselves off from last week’s disappointing loss to Albia and rolled over Class 2A, District 6 rival Clarke 48-7 on Friday night, improving their record to 4-0 away from Monroe.

Blake McWilliams carried the ball 15 times for 143 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown run, but most of the scoring came on the back of junior Ronnie Marshall. Marshall carried the ball five times, and four of those went for touchdowns, the longest of which was a 20-yard scamper into the end zone. Jade Coleman had two carries for 31 yards. Luke Cummings had one run of 23 yards. Jaret Maggard carried the ball four times for 34 yards.

Sophomore quarterback Logan Gilman threw sparingly, but he was effective on the ground. Gilman was 3-for-9 with a touchdown throwing and had 36 yards and a touchdown on the ground. His connections were Zach Uhlenhopp, who caught two passes for 52 yards, and Ricky Reeve, who had a 15-yard touchdown catch.

Macerick McAtee led the team on the defensive end, intercepting the Indians’ quarterback twice. Uhlenhopp added an interceptions, as well, bringing his total to six on the season. Justin Beener had four tackles and a fumble recovery for the third PCM turnover.

McWilliams led the Mustangs with seven tackles, six of them solo. Ryan Donahue had five tackles. Coleman, Luke Pendroy, Austin Sneller and Jackson Winegar each had three stops.

Carson King, Brandon Charls, Skyler Koder, Logan Litrell, Maggard and Marshall had two stops apiece.

PCM will try to go for an undefeated season on the road when it heads to Bloomfield this Friday to take on Davis County.
