Drama Club puts new twist on ‘Snow White’
The story of Snow White is well known. She bites a poison apple, and falls into a deep sleep, only to be awakened by a kiss from the prince — but what if something else happened? The Drama Club at Berg Middle School looks to explore just that in its production of “Snow White: The Untold Story” this weekend.
Instead of presenting Snow White as a good girl, she is a bad-mannered tomboy lacking any resemblance of grace. Instead of the traditional dwarfs, there are seven fairy godmothers. In a typical tomboy fashion, Snow White wants to please her father more than anything else, while, unbeknownst to her, her stepmother is a witch.
The play is written by two former Disney writers, and Director Melinda Worthington thought that the play would be a unique twist on a otherwise traditional tale.
