• Kody D. Hansen, 16, of Newton and 15-year-old Newton teen both were charged with disorderly conduct after the school resource officer broke up a fight at Newton Senior High School, located at 800 E. Fourth St. S., at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday. The fight took place in the hallway by the school’s weight room. The case was deferred to juvenile authorities.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. It is the policy of the Newton Daily News to release the names of individuals charged with a crime who are 16 and older.
