First UMC to perform ‘Jesus B.C.’

A Newton church hopes the community will begin its Christmas this year with a unique glimpse of the Heavenly Father and His Family.

Members and friends of the First United Methodist Church are offering a gift to the community this Christmas season. “Jesus B.C.,” a dramatic production about the goings on in heaven and on earth prior to the birth of Jesus, will be performed this Sunday.

The play will open the door to discussions held in the heavenly living room as God’s family grapples with problems on earth, finally settling on sending Jesus to earth, fully human and fully divine. The drama captures the anticipation of the season, while foreshadowing the cross of Good Friday.

Just as the church’s past presentations of “A Journey to Bethlehem” provided a glimpse of Biblical Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’ birth, this production offers an interpretation of Heaven’s perspective leading to the birth of Jesus.

“Jesus B.C.” will be performed this Sunday the church’s 8:30 a.m. worship service and again at 4 p.m. First United Methodist Church is located at 210 N. Second Ave. E
