Lend a helping hand to clear a trail from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 14 at Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge. Volunteers will use hand tools to clear woody plants and will learn about Iowa’s native ecosystems and wildlife. Warm up afterward with hot chocolate and cookies. Volunteers are required to sign a volunteer agreement and a volunteer under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian fill it out and sign the form. Volunteers ages 16 or older are permitted to use hand tools.
