PCM girls open outdoor season with win at Perry

Mustangs tie host Jayettes with 127 points

PERRY — Three wins and 11 top-three finishes lifted the PCM girls track and field team to a tie at the top of the standings during the Jayette Relays on Thursday.

The Mustangs scored 127 points at their outdoor opener. Darbey DeRaad and Lexi Fagg both won individual events and the 4x800-meter relay team also scored a gold medal.

DeRaad led PCM with a pair of wins. She won the 1,500 in a debut time of 5 minutes, 41.5 seconds. Raegan Vannoy also was sixth in 6:14.6.

Fagg won the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 5 inches and Katelyn Fagg was fourth with career-best jump of 14-4.

The third and final win came in the 4x800 relay. The foursome of Abi Teeter, Bailey Wheeler, DeRaad and Lila Milani won the race in a season-best 10 minutes, 19.81 seconds. That time currently ranks fourth in Class 2A.

The Mustangs, who did not have the services of standout sprinter Jorja Teeter, were second and third four times each.The individual runner-up finishes came from Teeter, Peyton Lathrum and Ila Keuning.

Teeter finished second in the 800 in a career-best 2:33.15 and Wheeler was fourth in 2:44.16.

Lathrum took second in the high jump with a leap of 4-6 and Libby Winters tied for third with a mark of 4-4.

Keuning grabbed a silver medal in the discus with a career-best toss of 96-3 1/2. Scarlett Mosher finished fifth with a debut throw of 77-6 3/4. Mosher also was fourth in the shot put with a career-best heave of 29-8.

The Mustangs added double points in the 100 and 100 hurdles.

Ryan DeVore was fourth in the 100 with a debut time of 14.35 seconds and Addison Shannon was sixth in 14.46.

Lillian Humpal finished fourth in the 100 hurdles in 18.41 and Tori Lindsay was fifth in 18.77.

Lexi Fagg (1:06.43) placed fourth in the 400, Ali Hilsabeck (debut time of 12:40.15) took fourth in the 3,000 and Winters (30.25) finished sixth in the 200.

The 4x400 relay team of Lindsay, Paiten Rumbaugh, Katelynn Fagg and Milani finished second with a season-best time of 4:29.76.

The 4x100, 4x200 and sprint medley relay teams all were third.

DeVore, Lathrum, Shannon and Humpal finished the 4x100 in a season-best 56.08.

The 4x200 relay team of Shannon, Lathrum, Kyra Naeve and Winters hit the finish line in a season-best 1:59.19.

Humpal, Lindsay, Naeve and Katelynn Fagg took third in the sprint medley relay with a season-best time of 2:02.51.
