Newton’s Bozarth snags all-substate recognition

Cardinal senior shot 36 percent from 3-point range

The best season of Landon Bozarth’s basketball career landed him another postseason honor.

The Cardinal senior scored Class 3A Substate 7 recognition recently after leading the boys basketball team in scoring, 3-point percentage and made free throws.

Bozarth averaged 11.3 points per game, shot 36 percent from 3 and buried 29 free throws. He also ranked second on the team in rebounds per game at 5.0 and assists per game at 2.3 and swiped .7 steals per contest.

Bozarth’s 32 made 3s ranked second on the squad. He also shot 50 percent from the floor and 66 percent from the free-throw line, which also ranked second on the team.

The rest of the Iowa Basketball Coaches Assocation’s 3A Substate 7 team featured ADM’s Hudson Lorensen, Trey Bryte and Hudson Shull, Pella’s Jack McGuire and Austin Schulte and Centerville’s Malachi Rice.
