Milani, Teeter lead PCM girls in track and field season opener

Mustangs’ 4x800 relay team scores top-20 finish at Dickinson Relays

CEDAR FALLS — A trio of top-20 finishes highlighted the PCM girls track and field team’s season opener at the Dickinson Relays on Tuesday.

Lila Milani and Abi Teeter each claimed top-12 finishes in the 800-meter run and helped the Mustangs to a 17th-place tally in the 4x800 relay.

PCM opened its indoor season at the UNI-Dome and the only other event to end up inside the top 50 was the 4x400 relay.

Milani led the way with a ninth-place finish in the 800. She was clocked in 2 minutes, 32.44 seconds and Teeter (2:34.3) was less than 2 seconds behind her in 12th. The other Mustang in the event was Darbey DeRaad, and she placed 53rd in 2:44.56.

A trio of Mustangs also scored top-100 finishes in the 400. Jorja Teeter placed 58th in 1:06.54 to lead the way, while Libby Winters (1:08.38) was 89th and Paiten Rumbaugh (1:09.03) finished 99th.

Peyton Lathrum and Winters were 58th and 72nd, respectively, in the high jump. Lathrum posted a leap of 4 feet, 6 inches, while Winters had a jump of 4-2.

The next best individual finish came from Lexi Fagg in the long jump. She was 60th with a leap of 14-5 and Alyssa Buckingham placed 71st with a mark of 14-0 1/4.

Tori Lindsay posted a time of 10.95 seconds to place 70th in the 60 hurdles. Lillian Humpal was 85th in 11.08.

Ryan DeVore (29.27) edged Lathrum (29.68) in the 200 as the Mustang duo placed 76th and 96th, respectively. Scarlett Mosher completed the top-100 finishers as she was 81st in the shot put with a toss of 81-7 3/4.

The 4x800 relay team placed 17th. The foursome of Abi Teeter, Katelynn Fagg, Milani and Bailey Wheeler completed the race in 10:34.67.

The 4x400 relay team of Katelynn Fagg, Lexi Fagg, Rumbaugh and Lindsay took 33rd in 4:37.53 and the foursome of Jorja Teeter, Stella Stravers, Lexi Fagg and Addison Shannon ended up 52nd in the 4x200 relay with a time of 2:00.36.
