Graber’s top-10 finish leads PCM boys at Dickinson Relays

Mustangs open track and field season at the UNI-Dome

CEDAR FALLS — Riley Graber’s sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash highlighted the PCM boys track and field team in its season opener at the Dickinson Relays on Monday.

The Mustangs competed on the University of Northern Iowa campus and turned in eight top-30 performances.

Graber’s sixth-place finish in the 400 was clocked in 52.49 seconds. He also was 11th in the 200 in 23.34.

Chase Wagaman

Chase Wagaman had the next best individual finish as he placed 12th in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches. Kash Fischer also was 14th in the 800 in 2 minutes, 7.04 seconds, Gavin Van Gorp placed 28th in the long jump with a leap of 19-9 1/2 and Alex Wendt was 45th in the shot put with a toss of 43-3 3/4.

Van Gorp also led a trio of Mustangs in the 60 hurdles. He placed 35th in 8.96 seconds, while Jaden Houser (9.48) was 76th and Jake Winters (9.79) finished 90th.

Adrien Robbins (7.39) and Lewis Daye (7.4) were separated by .01 seconds in the 60 dash as Robbins placed 74th and Daye was 76th. Tad Wilson took 61st in the 200 in 24.37.

A trio of Mustangs finished in the top 100 in the long jump and shot put.

Gavin Van Gorp

Finn Wilson was 66th in the long jump with a leap of 18-8 and Houser was 98th with a mark of 17-5 1/4. Hayden Shannon (39-7) edged his brother Harlan Shannon (39-6 3/4) in the shot put as they finished 93rd and 95th, respectively.

PCM was 24th in both the 4x400 and 4x800 relays. The foursome of Robbins, Trigg Steenhoek, Joey Ferneding and Joe Shaver finished the 4x400 in 3:49.23 and the team of Fischer, Coby DeRaad, Kolby Clark and Shaver hit the finish line in the 4x800 in 9:01.74.

The 4x200 team of Daye, Tad Wilson, Steenhoek and Finn Wilson placed 47th in 1:41.3.
