OSKALOOSA — A big day on the lanes produced a school-record score from the Newton boys bowling team on Saturday.

Ethan Valtman rolled the second-best series in Cardinal history, all six bowlers produced a score of at least 390 and Newton dominated Pella Christian at Statesmen Lanes.

The Newton girls also scored a win as the Eagles did not have enough players for a team score.

“It was a lot of fun watching them,” Newton head bowling coach Christie Lester said. “I felt like they really came together as a team yesterday.”
