Lynnville-Sully claims win over Baxter at home quadrangular

Hawks, Bolts fall to English Valleys and Montezuma

SULLY — Both Lynnville-Sully and Baxter were plagued by forfeits during a quadrangular hosted by the Hawks on Thursday.

Lynnville-Sully downed the Bolts 36-12 in the matchup of Jasper County teams, while English Valleys and Montezuma came away with victories against both Baxter and Lynnville-Sully.

The Braves finished 3-0 after a 56-12 win over English Valleys.

In Lynnville-Sully’s win over Baxter, the Hawks were 2-1 in contested matches and had a 4-1 advantage in forfeits. There were six double forfeits.

Lynnville-Sully’s Jett Kramer and Kimball Elliott both won by fall in their matches against Alex Dille and Derek Rominger, while Baxter’s Jack Anderson won his bout by fall against Burt Johnson at 138.

Ben Squires (285), Matthew Mintle (132), Wyatt Mathis (165) and Chase Deal (190) all accepted forfeits for L-S, while Baxter’s Maddox Peters took his forfeit at 150.

The Hawks lost to English Valleys on a tiebreaker. The dual ended 30-30, but the Bears won because they had a 3-2 advantage in forfeits.

The Hawks were 3-2 in contested matches in the dual. Kramer and Mintle both scored first-period pins, while Johnson also won by fall. The forfeits were accepted by Squires and Elliott. There were four double forfeits.

Montezuma defeated Lynnville-Sully 48-22 in their matchup, but the Hawks were 3-2 in contested matches. Those wins came from Elliott, Kramer and Mathis, who won by fall, technical fall and technical fall, respectively.

L-S had a 6-1 disadvantage in forfeits with Mintle accepting his at 132. There were two double forfeits.

Kramer and Elliott both went 3-0 with two pins, Mintle was 3-0 with two forfeits and Squires was 2-1 with two forfeits. Mathis also was 2-1.

Baxter lost 36-23 to English Valleys but was 2-0 in contested matches. The Bolts got a win by fall from Dille at 113 and a 15-0 technical fall from Anderson at 144. Rominger and Peters both accepted forfeits, but the Bolts were 2-6 in that category. There were four double forfeits.

Montezuma won its dual with Baxter 48-18, but the Bolts were 3-0 in the contested matches. The Braves took all seven forfeits and there were three double forfeits.

Dille scored a 57-second pin at 113, Anderson won his match by fall in the first period and Peters scored a pin in the second.

Anderson was 3-0 with one pin at 138 and one pin at 144. Peters was 3-0 with two forfeits at 150 and Dille was 2-1 with two pins at 113.
