L-S wrestlers finish 2-1 at home quadrangular

Hawks dominate on the mat against HLV, North Tama and Hudson

SULLY — Jett Kramer, Kimball Elliott and Matthew Mintle all went 3-0 with three pins and the Lynnville-Sully wrestling team dominated on the mat during a home quadrangular on Thursday.

The Hawks were 11-4 in contested matches in their three duals but a 6-13 disadvantage in forfeits led to a 2-1 night on the scoreboard.

L-S defeated North Tama 42-30, downed HLV 30-21 and fell to Hudson 48-30.

In their South Iowa Cedar League matchup against HLV, the Hawks were 3-2 in contested matches and the two teams split four forfeits.

Kramer, Elliott and Mintle all scored first-period falls at 120, 126 and 132, respectively. Wyatt Mathis and Ben Squires also took forfeits at 165 and 285, respectively.

The Hawks were 5-2 in contested matches in their loss to Hudson, but the Pirates took all six forfeits. Kramer, Mintle, Elliott, Burt Johnson and Squires all won by fall at 113, 126, 132, 138 and 285, respectively.

L-S was 3-0 in contested matches against North Tama. The wins came from Kramer, Elliott and Mintle and Johnson, Mathis, Chase Deal (190) and Squires all took forfeits.

The Hawks’ three duals featured eight double forfeits.

Squires (13-4) was 3-0 with two forfeits at 285. Kramer (15-2) won twice at 113 and once at 120, Elliott (9-0) and Mintle (16-1) scored all three of their pins at 126 and 132 and Johnson (11-6) was 2-0 at 138 and 0-1 at 144. His loss was 8-6 in SV-1. Mathis was 2-1 with two forfeits at 165.
