“We found a way to hold on and get the win,” L-S head girls basketball coach Jerry Hulsing said. “We did a good job on both ends in the first half. We need to come out in the second half with the same focus.”
Lynnville-Sully overcame 30 points and 14 rebounds from Sigourney’s Josephine Moore and the Savages lost the game despite shooting 23-of-37 from the free-throw line.

“We have to be able to play physically without fouling and rebound the ball,” Hulsing said. “When we executed on offense we were able to get some good looks.”

Lynnville-Sully 56, Pleasantville 51
The Hawks rallied from a slow start, four players scored in double figures and L-S dominated the boards during a 56-51 non-conference win over Pleasantville on Saturday.
“It was our first half that was sluggish tonight and our second half was much better,” Hulsing said. “Our full-court pressure was the difference in the mid-third quarter which got our motor going and led to some easy points and creating some fouls where we made our free throws. We rebounded the ball better in the second half.”
The Hawks have won five straight games overall and claimed their second straight win over the Trojans.
Lowry led L-S with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and four steals. Kate Harthoorn added 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.
