L-S volleyball downs BGM in SICL matchup

Hawks overcome Bears’ 10 aces in home victory

SULLY — After splitting two very competitive sets to open the match, the Lynnville-Sully volleyball team turned it up against BGM during a South Iowa Cedar League contest on Monday.

The Hawks brought their overall record to .500 and won their first conference match of the season after rallying for a 24-26, 26-24, 25-18, 25-16 home win over the Bears.

Alaina Roberts and Kate Harthoorn both produced double-doubles and the Hawks overcame 10 BGM aces in the triumph.

Roberts led the Hawks with 17 assists, 22 digs and three aces, while Harthoorn added 13 assists and 21 digs.

Ava Brummel put down a career-best 11 kills and added six digs, Tatum Huyser produced nine kills and 24 digs and Breah Lowry had five kills and a career-best 20 digs.

Terriyah Carter tallied six digs, Brooke Hardeman registered four digs and two aces and Ashlan Cordes posted two kills and three digs.

Sevanah Routier collected five digs and Brooke Harthoorn made three digs in her prep varsity debut.

Lynnville-Sully (8-8, 1-2 in the SICL) was 86-of-96 in serves with five aces. Kate Harthoorn finished 15-of-15 in serves, while Lowry was 13-of-13, Brooke Harthoorn ended up 9-of-9 and Hardeman was 8-of-9.

Kylie Arment led BGM (3-9, 0-4) with 25 assists, 12 digs and four aces. Mya Beck had seven kills and 20 digs. The Bears finished 75-of-88 in serves.
