No. 9 Norwalk too much for Newton volleyball

NORWALK — Delaney Woollums put down eight kills, Isabelle Rawlins finished with five digs and the Newton volleyball team missed just one serve during its matchup with Norwalk on Tuesday.

But the Class 4A No. 9 Warriors were too much for the Cardinals during a 25-6, 25-14, 25-16 Little Hawkeye Conference road loss.

Woollums added three digs to her team-best eight kills and her kill efficiency was .182. Macy Lampe had four kills and two digs.

Rawlins dished out 15 assists to go with her five digs, Chloe Swank tallied a team-best 10 digs, Addie Ratcliff put down two kills and Addison Hook and Lola Rivera each collected two digs.

The Cardinals (5-6, 0-3 in the conference) were 35-of-36 in serves with Hook finishing 9-of-9.

Norwalk (12-6, 2-1) won its 17th straight match against the Cardinals thanks in part to a 44-16 advantage in kills and a 9-1 surplus in aces.

The Warriors were led by Elle’ Hatlevig’s 18 kills. Hadley Michael added 31 assists, 12 digs and four aces. Norwalk had a kill efficiency of .395 with Hatlevig finishing at .419.
