Eleven wins power NCMP past Williamsburg

Aquagirls finish 1-2-3 in six events, improve to 7-0

WILLIAMSBURG — It was another big night in the pool for the Newton-Colfax-Mingo-Pella girls swim team on Tuesday.

The Aquagirls won all 11 events, finished 1-2-3 in six of them and even took the first four positions in the 100-yard breaststroke during a 132-38 triumph over Williamsburg.

NCMP was at least 1-2 in all but two events. Addison Van Maanen was part of four victories, while Peyton Ray and Harper Barton each had three wins and one runner-up finish.

The Aquagirls continued their dominance in relays. They improved to 7-0 as a team and have won all three relays in each of the first three meets of the season.

NCMP finished 1-2-3 in the 400 freestyle relay. The winning team featured Ray, Alex Riney, Van Maanen and Harper Barton and they hit the wall in 3 minutes, 53.84 seconds.

Paige Benson, Izzy Lane, Hailey Dickerson and Temple Barton were second in 4:08.15 and Anna DeVries, Alex Meyer, Alexa Van Maanen and Emalee Weuve took third in 4:25.31.

NCMP’s top two finishing teams in the 200 medley relay were separated by .11 seconds.

Dickerson, Van Maanen, Benson and Ray won the race in 2:00.67 and the runner-up foursome of Tori White, Harper Barton, Lane and Riney were clocked in 2:00.78.

The Aquagirls also were 1-2 in the 200 freestyle relay. Ray, Benson, White and Riney won the race in 1:47.63 and DeVries, Lane, Meyer and Temple Barton finished second in 1:54.83.

Only the top three finishing individuals can score for each team, but NCMP was 1-2-3-4 in the 100 breaststroke. Addison Van Maanen won the race in 1:13.3 and DeVries (season-best 1:17.3), White (1:19.44) and Alexa Van Maanen (1:22.85) were next to the wall.

White won the 200 freestyle in 2:14.53. DeVries (2:18.85) and Peyton Phillips (2:27.54) finished second and third, respectively.

The Aquagirls also were 1-2-3 in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle.

In the 50 freestyle, Harper Barton (26.3) won the race, while Riney (26.75) and Temple Barton (27.7) were 2-3.

Harper Barton (57.06) won the 100 freestyle, but Temple Barton (1:00.73) and Dickerson (1:02.88) were next to the wall.

In the 100 butterfly, Lane won the race in a season-best 1:07.14. Nedder (1:11.34) and Benson (1:13.46) were second and third, respectively.

Addison Van Maanen also won the 200 individual medley. She was clocked in a season-best 2:22.76 and Ray was the runner-up in 2:28.51.

Dickerson scored her first individual win of the season in the 100 backstroke. She was clocked in 1:10.57. Kimberlee Miller (1:18.07) scored three team points in third.

The final win for NCMP came in the 500 freestyle. Weuve won the race in 6:21.89.
