C-M drops pair at Southeast Warren triangular

Tigerhawks edged by Moravia in Liberty Center

LIBERTY CENTER — The difference between Colfax-Mingo and Moravia during their head-to-head matchup on Tuesday was kill efficiency.

The Mohawks scored a narrow 21-19, 22-20 win over the Tigerhawks at the Southeast Warren triangular due in large part to a .276 kill efficiency. Colfax-Mingo came up short due to a negative kill efficiency.

Colfax-Mingo also suffered a 21-12, 21-13 loss to host Southeast Warren in their other match.

Trinity Smith

In the loss to Moravia, Katelyn Steenhoek finished with six assists, two digs and three aces. Britney Keeney added four kills and two aces, Trinity Smith chipped in two kills, two digs and four aces and Kaylee Collins had three digs.

The Tigerhawks (2-4) were 32-of-40 in serves with 14 aces. Isabelle Utz served up five of those aces.

Candace Walton led Moravia (3-7) with six assists and four kills.

Southeast Warren (5-3) got 14 kills from Lexi Clendenen and the Warhawks had a kill efficiency of .302.

Smith finished with five kills and three digs, Steenhoek dished out six assists and had four digs and Keeney tallied four kills. Macie Porter collected five digs and Cadence Linn registered two digs.

The Tigerhawks were 21-of-26 in serves with Collins going 6-of-6.
