NCMP downs Marshalltown, Fort Dodge in road duals

MARSHALLTOWN — The Newton-Colfax-Mingo-Pella girls swim team showed off its depth and used four wins to sweep a pair of duals on Tuesday.

Addison Van Maanen and Harper Barton both won individual races and the Aquagirls were 1-2 in the 400 freestyle relay. Those victories led NCMP to a 55-36 win over host Marshalltown and a 53.5-30.5 triumph against Fort Dodge.

Van Maanen’s win came in the 200 freestyle. She was clocked in 2 minutes, 12.79 seconds.

Barton tied for the win in the 50 freestyle. Her time of 25.79 seconds was the same time Fort Dodge’s Hailey Vogel posted. Vogel also won the 100 freestyle in 57.21 seconds.

NCMP opened its night with a win in the 200 medley relay and finished it with a 1-2 finish in the 400 freestyle relay.

In the 200 medley relay, Tori White, Van Maanen, Izzy Lane and Alex Riney posted a winning time of 1:58.10.

NCMP’s second varsity team of Paige Benson, Anna DeVries, Peyton Ray and Avery Meyer finished second against Fort Dodge with a time of 2:25.41.

However, the Aquagirls’ junior varsity foursome of Emalee Weuve, Temple Barton, Julia Nedder and Alexa Van Maanen posted a time of 2:13.3.

Ray, Addison Van Maanen, White and Harper Barton won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:52.63 and Lane, Benson, Hailey Dickerson and Riney were second in 4:07.79.

There were no results for the varsity 200 freestyle relay as they were turned in before an official signed off on them, according to the Marshalltown Times-Republican. Nedder, Peyton Phillips, Veronica Mark and Haylee White won the JV race in 2:02.40.

Harper Barton and Temple Barton finished 2-3 overall and 1-2 against Marshalltown in the 200 individual medley. Harper posted a time of 2:25.14 and Temple hit the wall in 2:34.35.

Riney (1:07.86) and Addison Van Maanen (1:08.58) were 2-3 overall and 1-2 against Marshalltown in the 100 butterfly. Fort Dodge’s Grace Harvey won the race in 1:07.27.

In the 100 backstroke, Tori White (1:05.33) and Ray (1:15.58) were 2-3 overall and 1-2 against Marshalltown.

Fort Dodge’s Julia Eastman won both the 100 backstroke (1:02.7) and the 200 IM (2:20.27).

Anna DeVries (1:18.42) and Temple Barton (1:19.31) were 2-3 overall and 1-2 against Fort Dodge in the 100 breaststroke.

Lane placed third overall in the 500 freestyle with a time 6:17.82. Weuve (6:29.63) took fourth overall but was third against Marshalltown and Fort Dodge.

Tori White (26.69) finished third against both Fort Dodge and Marshalltown in the 50 freestyle and Weuve (2:21.73) was third versus Marshalltown in the 200 freestyle.

In the 100 freestyle, Nedder (1:04.95) and Meyer (1:06.78) were 2-3 against Fort Dodge.

Nedder, Kimberlee Miller, Alexa Van Maanen and Weuve won the JV 400 freestyle relay in 4:26.58.

Alexa Van Maanen (100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly) and Miller (100 backstroke and 50 freestyle) also won a pair of individual JV races, while Phillips (200 freestyle), Lillian Pifko (100 freestyle) and Haylee White (500 freestyle) claimed one JV win.
