Winning a third straight South Iowa Cedar League baseball title took many hands from players from Lynnville-Sully this summer.
L-S finished 15-0 in league play and 10 Hawks were named to the all-SICL squad recently.
Colfax-Mingo had three all-conference representatives, led by senior Cael Bracewell, who was a first-team selection. The Tigerhawks were 7-7 in league play.
All-conference recognition is based on statistics inside conference play only.
Seniors Corder Noun Harder, Lucas Sieck and C.J. Nikkel and junior Carson Maston all were named to the all-conference first team, while senior Blake Van Wyk, juniors Lannon Montgomery and Terran Gosselink and sophomore Jaiden Richards all were second-team picks. The honorable mention choices were senior Davis Utech and sophomore Jack Bowlin.
Lynnville-Sully head coach Scott Alberts was named SICL Coach of the Year.
Bracewell was joined on the all-conference squad by a pair of C-M teammates. Seniors Joe Earles and Donnie Baucom were honorable mention selections.
Sieck was a first-team pitcher after ranking fourth in the SICL with an earned run average of .81. Opponents batted just .101 against Sieck and that ranked second in the league.
He was 4-0 in conference games. The four wins ranked tied for third and he was tied for 10th with 37 strikeouts and fourth with just six walks in 26 innings.
Sieck also ranked eighth in the league with a .432 batting average, tied for eighth with 19 hits and tied for 10th with 17 RBIs. He also had an on-base percentage of .509 and committed just one error.
Noun Harder was a first-team catcher. He ranked fourth in the conference with a .500 batting average and tied for seventh with a .574 OBP.
His 22 hits ranked fourth in the SICL, his 19 runs tied for fifth and his three triples tied for third. He also ranked second in the SICL with 41 total bases, tied for second with three homers, tied for 10th with 17 RBIs and tied for the conference lead with zero errors.
Noun Harder added four doubles, six walks, three hit by pitches and tied for the team lead with 13 steals.
Maston was a first-team infielder after ranking fifth in the league with a .467 batting average. He ranked ninth with an OBP of .571 and his 21 hits ranked fifth.
Maston tied for fourth in the league with six doubles, tied for ninth with 27 total bases and added eight runs, nine RBIs, seven walks and a team-best four hit by pitches. His fielding percentage was .946.
Nikkel was a first-team outfielder. He batted .400 and ranked sixth in the conference with an OBP of .585. His 23 runs and 15 walks ranked second in the league, his 18 RBIs tied for seventh and his 13 steals tied for the team lead.
He also finished with 14 hits, two doubles, two hit by pitches and 19 total bases. His fielding percentage was .714.
Richards was a second-team infielder after batting .385 and posting an OBP of .529. He tied for third in the league with 20 runs, tied for the team lead with four hit by pitches and tallied 15 hits, 15 RBIs, eight walks, 16 total bases and seven steals. His fielding percentage was .919.
Gosselink and Montgomery both earned second-team all-conference honors as outfielders.
Gosselink batted .342 and had an OBP of .458. He tied for eighth in the conference with 18 runs, tied for 10th with 17 RBIs and finished with 13 hits, seven walks, 16 total bases and eight steals. He made no errors in the field.
Montgomery batted .333 and had an OBP of .458. His 18 RBIs tied for seventh and he added 16 hits, 16 runs, 10 walks, 20 total bases and four steals. His fielding percentage was .963.
Van Wyk earned his second-team nod as a utility player. He batted .316, had an OBP of .413 and added 12 hits, 12 runs, 15 RBIs, three doubles, six walks and 18 total bases. His fielding percentage was .920.
Utech batted .256 and had an OBP of .370. He finished with 10 hits, six runs, two doubles, seven RBIs, six walks and 12 total bases. His fielding percentage was .915.
Bowlin pitched 7 1/3 innings on the mound and had an ERA of 0.00 and opponents batted .000 against him. He struck out 11 and walked six.
Bracewell earned his first-team nod as a pitcher but was one of the best hitters in the conference, too.
Bracewell was 4-1 and his ERA of .71 ranked third in the league. He led the SICL with 82 strikeouts and ranked second with only four walks in 39 2/3 innings.
His four wins tied for third in the conference, he ranked fourth with an opponents batting average against of .123 and his fielding percentage was .968.
At the plate, Bracewell batted .410 and ranked fifth in the SICL with an OBP of .596. His 18 runs ranked tied for eighth and he was tied for fourth with six doubles, third with two triples and tied for second with three homers.
Bracewell ranked fourth in the league with 35 total bases, tied for third with six hit by pitches and tied for fourth with 12 walks. He also led the team with 16 hits and 10 steals and tied for the team with 11 RBIs.
Earles tied for ninth in the SICL with 11 walks. He batted .333 and had an OBP of .480.
Earles added 12 hits, nine runs, two doubles, 14 total bases and four steals and his 11 RBIs tied for the team lead.
Baucom batted .275 and had an OBP of .341. He finished with 11 hits, three runs, two doubles, five RBIs, three walks and 13 total bases. His fielding percentage was .824.
