Lynnville-Sully’s Utech to play baseball at Dordt University

Hawk senior to catch for NAIA Defenders

Lynnville-Sully senior Davis Utech will play college baseball at Dordt University. He chose the Defenders over interest from Northwestern College and Grand View University. He was joined at his signing earlier this school year by father Kevin, left, mother Allison and brother Brooks. "Dordt was the first school to take serious interest in me," Davis Utech said. "The assistant coach, Ian Eshelman, was the one who took interest in me and started contacting me last summer. I visited the school last winter and fell in love with it. It’s what I’m used to here. It’s a small NAIA college. I love Esh as a coach." Eshelman is now the acting head coach at the school. Utech is just excited to be able to play baseball at the next level. He will play catcher at Dordt. "I’m so excited. It’s hard to put into words," Utech said. "I have always dreamed about playing college baseball." Utech plans to major in Ag Education.
