L-S boys open golf season at BGM

Hawk girls host trio of SICL squads

BROOKLYN — Keegan DeWitt finished fourth overall, but the Lynnville-Sully boys golf team couldn’t keep up with a trio of conference rivals on Thursday.

The Hawks finished fourth in a road quadrangular at Brooklyn-Victor Country Club. BGM, HLV and Sigourney were separated by just six strokes at the top of the standings.

DeWitt matched a career best with a 39 to place fourth, while L-S also got 45s from Lucas Sieck and Deven Liekweg. They tied for 12th and Liekweg’s score matched a career best.

Klayton Van Dyke and Carson Maston had the final counting score with 49s and Garrett Jansen turned in a non-counting 56.

BGM won the meet with a 161. The Bears placed four golfers in the top 10, led by Dominic Coleman’s 38. Sigourney’s Solon Yates also finished with a 38. Coleman and Yates tied for runner-up medalist honors.

HLV finished second with a 166. Peyton Roth was the meet medalist with a 36. Sigourney was third in the standings with a 167.

L-S girls finish fourth in home quadrangular

LYNNVILLE — Brooke Hardeman placed eighth individually, but the Lynnville-Sully girls golf team placed fourth in a home quadrangular on Thursday.

The Hawks shot a 285 at Diamond Trail Golf Club. HLV won the meet with a 258, while the rest of the field featured BGM (261) and Sigourney (262).

Hardeman finished with a 66, while the rest of the Hawks’ scoring golfers included Renzi Ingersoll (70), Olivia Beyer (74), Addasyn Klein (75) and Penelope Robinson (career-best 75). Audrey Kaldenberg carded a non-counting and career-best 79.

HLV placed four in the top 10, led by meet medalist Kaylee York’s 57.

BGM had the second and third best scores with Averee Krebill finishing with a 60 in second. Sigourney placed three in the top seven.
