COLFAX — The Colfax-Mingo girls’ basketball team was limited to single digits in all four quarters on Thursday night.
The Tigerhawks fell behind early and never recovered during a 42-14 non-conference home loss to Colo-NESCO.
The Royals won their first game of the season after leading 14-4 after one quarter. They outscored the Tigerhawks 10-4 in the second, 9-2 in the third and 9-4 in the fourth.
Dakota Allen led the Tigerhawks (0-10) with six points, four rebounds and three steals and Victoria Woods added six rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
Brooklyn Yanske scored three points, Grace Allen grabbed five rebounds and Katelyn Steenhoek and Mallory Sipma both had four rebounds and Dove Lopez ripped down three boards.
The Tigerhawks shot 15.6 percent from the floor, shot 0-of-8 from 3 and made 4-of-8 from the free-throw line. They turned the ball over 37 times.
The Royals (1-8) got 23 points, six rebounds and nine steals from Gemma Bower. Colo-NESCO shot 28 percent from the floor, made 6-of-26 from 3 and connected on 2-of-8 from the line. The visitors turned the ball over 26 times.

Iowa Valley 58, Colfax-Mingo 44
MARENGO — Harrison Rhone scored 22 points and the Colfax-Mingo boys’ basketball team grabbed 15 offensive rebounds on Tuesday during its South Iowa Cedar League game against Iowa Valley.
But a slow start and a tough shooting night were too much to overcome as the Tigerhawks fell to the Tigers on the road, 58-44.
Iowa Valley led 17-8 after one quarter and outscored the Tigerhawks 14-7 in the second. Colfax-Mingo won the second half by two points, but it wasn’t enough to rally.
Rhone tallied 22 points, six rebounds and two steals to lead the visitors, while Cael Bracewell chipped in six points, seven rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Brandon Kite put in five points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out three assists, Elias Hostetter and Kaden Dalton both added four points and five rebounds and Jared Lewis tallied three points, two rebounds and two assists.
The Tigerhawks (4-5, 3-4) shot 24.6 percent from the floor, made 6-of-28 from 3-point range and buried 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. They committed 15 turnovers.
Caleb Haack dominated on both ends of the floor for the Tigers. Haack finished with 22 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, five steals and six blocks, while Cole Long added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Tigers (3-6, 3-3) shot 44 percent from the floor, connected on 6-of-18 from 3 and sunk 6-of-10 from the foul line. They turned the ball over 13 times.

Colo-NESCO 66, Colfax-Mingo 37
The Tigerhawks fell behind early and never recovered during a 66-37 non-conference loss on Dec. 21.
Colfax-Mingo trailed 11-3 after one and was outscored 18-12 in the second, 20-7 in the third and 17-15 in the fourth.
Rhone led the Tigerhawks with 20 points, four rebounds and four steals. Colfax-Mingo shot 29.5 percent from the floor, made 1-of-15 from 3 and connected on only 10-of-21 from the foul line.
Bracewell chipped in six points and six rebounds, Hostetter and Lewis both scored four points and Dalton grabbed seven rebounds and Kaden Dalton grabbed six boards and swiped two steals. Gage Byal also pulled down two boards.
Colfax-Mingo turned the ball over 15 times and was out-rebounded 35-23.
Lucas Frohwein led the Royals (6-2) with 28 points and 16 rebounds. The visitors shot 55 percent from the floor, hit 4-of-17 from 3 and buried 8-of-13 from the charity stripe.
It was the fourth straight win for the Royals, who turned the ball over 14 times.
