JEWELL — The PCM boys’ basketball team recovered from a slow start with a big third quarter, but South Hamilton rallied in the final frame on its home floor during a Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference game on Tuesday.
The Mustangs went into the fourth with the lead but allowed 25 points in the final eight minutes and lost 58-48 to the host Hawks.
South Hamilton led 18-8 after one, but PCM chipped away at its deficit in the second and then went ahead following a 17-5 surplus in the third.

The Hawks won the fourth 25-10. PCM was plagued by 19 turnovers and 5-of-25 shooting from 3-point range.
Jacob Wendt led the Mustangs with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals and Gavin Van Gorp added 12 points, three boards and two steals.
Jack Jungling had five points and a career-best 10 rebounds, Cutler VandeLune chipped in seven points and two assists and Kaleb DeVries grabbed five boards and dished out eight assists.
Gavin Steenhoek and Pete Kiernen each scored three points, Alex Wendt grabbed three rebounds and Jacob Elrod pulled down two boards.

The Mustangs (4-5, 3-3 in the HOIAC) shot 34.5 percent from the floor and made 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. They delivered 15 assists on 19 field goals.
South Hamilton improved to 8-1 on the season and the Hawks are now 5-1 in the conference.
