PERRY — Nine Mustangs scored at least five points and the PCM boys’ basketball team won the rebounding battle during a double-digit road win over Perry on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs trailed by one after one quarter but dominated the second and third frames during a 67-51 victory in Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference play.
PCM secured its third straight win in part because the Mustangs shot 46 percent from the floor, made eight 3-pointers and out-rebounded the Bluejays 42-34.
Perry led its visitors 11-10 after one, but the Mustangs won the second 15-7 and pulled away with a 26-15 advantage in the third. The Bluejays won the fourth 18-16.
Jack Jungling matched a career-high with 11 points and also had six rebounds and four assists.
Jacob Wendt registered nine points, 15 rebounds, four assists and two steals, Gavin Van Gorp tallied nine points, two assists and two steals and Kaleb DeVries chipped in five points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Cutler VandeLune registered six points, four assists and two steals, Jacob Elrod collected five points, five boards and two steals, Gavin Steenhoek had six points and three steals and Mark Bussan finished with six points and three boards.
Jake Winters scored six points, Chase Wagaman and Alex Wendt each grabbed three rebounds and Easton Webb delivered two assists.
The Mustangs (4-3, 3-1 in the conference) won the game despite turning the ball over 17 times and making only 3-of-12 from the free-throw line. They also were 8-of-19 from long distance.
Drake Levan led Perry with 18 points and nine rebounds, Geren Kenney scored 11 points and Owen Myers pulled down nine boards.
The Bluejays (1-5, 0-4) shot 34.5 percent from the floor, made 4-of-16 from 3 and buried 9-of-15 from the foul line. They turned the ball over 16 times.
PCM 51, North Mahaska 46
NEW SHARON — Another balanced scoring effort allowed the Mustangs to win a close game on the road on Monday.
PCM led by one after one, extended the lead to three at halftime and went on to edge North Mahaska 51-46 during a non-conference contest.
Van Gorp scored 15 points and grabbed two rebounds. No other Mustangs reached double digits, but eight scored at least three points.
Jacob Wendt finished with six points, 17 rebounds and four assists, DeVries tallied six points, seven rebounds and four assists and Jungling added four points and six boards.
VandeLune put in six points, Steenhoek collected five points and two rebounds and Alex Wendt chipped in four points and three rebounds. Pete Kiernen had three points and two rebounds and Elrod scored three points.
The Mustangs won the game despite shooting 28.6 percent from the floor and just 10-of-20 from the foul line because they made 9-of-37 from 3, turned the ball over just 12 times and out-rebounded their hosts 42-29.
Nolan Anderson had 12 points and four rebounds, Nate Sampson chipped in eight points and four boards and Asher DeBoef grabbed seven rebounds and handed out six assists.
The Warhawks (4-3) shot 34 percent from the floor, made 6-of-22 from 3 and connected on 10-of-18 from the foul line. They turned the ball over 16 times.
