Host Cardinal edges Colfax-Mingo football

Tigerhawks lose despite piling up 400 total yards of offense

ELDON — Cael Bracewell threw for 230 yards and rushed for 101, but the Colfax-Mingo football team came up a bit short against Cardinal on Friday.

The Tigerhawks dropped the Class 1A District 6 contest 18-13 despite compiling 400 total yards of offense.

Bracewell was 17-of-29 through the air for 230 yards and two interceptions and his 101 rushing yards came on 14 carries.

Shane Hostetter grabbed nine passes for 154 yards, Logan Exley rushed for 34 yards on five carries and had 35 yards on two catches and Isaiah Baucom gained 34 yards on 12 carries.

The Tigerhawks (1-4, 0-2 in the district) rushed for 170 yards as a team. Conner Wood snagged two passes for 18 yards and Konner Dalton gained 15 yards on two catches.

Konner Dalton led the defense with 7.5 tackles and a fumble recovery, Exley finished with 6.5 tackles and Hostetter and Baucom each collected 5.5 tackles.

Kaden Dalton posted five tackles, Donnie Baucom had four tackles and Anthony Camp, Jermaine Cross and Bracewell all registered 3.5 tackles. Cross also recovered a fumble and Bracewell booted a 42-yard punt.

Cardinal (1-4, 1-1) got 11 tackles and an interception from Zach Luedtke and Craig Miller and Isaac Cox each tallied six tackles for the hosts. The Comets snagged two picks in the win.
