Lampe, Lawson garner all-state soccer recognition

The Newton boys’ soccer team won 11 matches and reached the Class 3A substate championship game this past spring.

Leading the way for the Cardinals were Nate Lampe and Christian Lawson. And both players were named to the 3A all-state team recently.

Lampe earned second-team all-state honors after ranking second in 3A with 19 assists. He also ranked third on the team with seven goals and was second with 33 points.

Lawson led the Cardinals and ranked tied for 12th in 3A with 18 goals. His 48 points ranked tied for 11th and he was second on his own team with 12 assists.

Ten players from the Little Hawkeye Conference made an all-state team.
