MCCALLSBURG — Seven Bolts had at least one hit, but the Baxter softball team lost to Colo-NESCO despite out-hitting the Royals 9-6.
The Bolts committed three errors and Colo-NESCO was given nine free passes during a 9-6 home win in Iowa Star Conference South Division play on Friday.
Baxter scored first, but C-N led 3-1 after four, 5-3 after five and then scored four runs in the sixth to pull away for good. The Bolts scored two in the top of the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.
Caydence Sulzle and Mandee Selover collected two hits to lead the Bolts (0-4 overall, 0-3 in the conference) at the plate. Sulzle registered two runs, one walk, one RBI and one steal and Selover doubled and finished with one RBI and one steal.

Lydia Pierce, Evelyn Boothroyd, Kendall Brummel, Karlee Koehler and Morgan Hansen all had one hit.
Pierce scored one run and stole one base in her season debut. She also took the loss in the circle after allowing nine runs — four earned — on five hits with four strikeouts and nine walks in six innings.
Brummel scored one run and totaled one RBI, one walk and two steals, Boothroyd doubled and had one RBI, Koehler and Hansen each scored one run and Camden Moffit registered an RBI.
Katie Spalding finished with two walks, two runs and two steals to lead Colo-NESCO (1-4, 1-2), while Riley Handsaker collected two hits and three RBIs and Callie Kohlwes tallied two hits and two runs.
North Tama 15, Baxter 10
BAXTER — The Bolts couldn’t hold a lead against North Tama on Wednesday.
Baxter rallied from a 5-1 deficit with a four-run third and then went up 9-5 with a four-run fourth, but the Redhawks battled back with four runs in the fifth and six in the seventh to win 15-10 during Iowa Star Conference South Division play.
The Bolts lost the game despite registering nine hits, 13 walks and 20 steals. They struck out 11 times.
Selover led the offense with three hits, one triple, one run and one steal and Holly Zahurones registered two hits, two walks, two steals, one run and one RBI.

Boothroyd had one hit, one run, two walks, two RBIs and four steals, Sulzle collected one hit, three runs, one walk and two steals and Klaire Shanks posted one hit, two runs, two walks and five steals.
Brummel tallied two walks, three steals and one run, Hannah Huffaker collected two walks, two steals and one RBI and Moffit finished with one hit, one walk and one RBI.
Koehler walked once and had one RBI, Morgan Hansen scored one run and stole one base and Shanks registered one hit.
Zahurones pitched all seven innings and allowed 15 runs — 10 earned — on 12 hits with seven strikeouts, six walks and two hit batters.
Kinsley Even led the Redhawks with three hits, two runs, two RBIs and two steals and Adi Fuller tallied two hits, two RBIs and two steals. Gabriella Seda registered two hits, three runs and two RBIs and Gabby Velasco had three hits and three runs.
North Tama out-hit the Bolts 15-9, stole 11 bases and committed two errors.
GMG 16, Baxter 7
GARWIN — The Bolts scored all seven of their runs in the fifth, but they were out-hit 10-9 and committed 10 errors during a 16-7 road loss to GMG in Iowa Star Conference play on May 22.
Selover, Sulzle and Huffaker had seven of the team’s nine hits.
Selover finished with three hits, two doubles, one run, two RBIs and three steals, Sulzle collected two hits, one run and one RBI and Huffaker totaled two hits, one double and one run.

Moffit registered one hit, one run and two RBIs, Brummel collected one hit and one run and Koehler and Boothroyd each had one walk and one run.
Zahurones drove in one run and Koehler stole one base.
Zahurones took the loss in the circle after allowing 16 runs — 11 earned — on 10 hits with four strikeouts, 11 walks and two hit batters in six innings.
Dylan Mathern led the Wolverines with four hits, two RBIs and three steals, Blake Mathern had two hits and three runs and Maecyn Lewis walked twice and scored three runs.
Adelyn Sienknecht got the pitching win after surrendering seven runs — three earned — on five hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks.
She also walked once, was hit by a pitch and scored four runs at the dish.
