ACKLEY — The Baxter baseball team ended an extra-inning game with a 13-run 10th frame during a 19-9 road win over AGWSR on May 18.
The game was tied at 2-all after three, but AGWSR led 6-4 after six frames. Baxter tied the game with a two-run seventh and then scored 13 runs in the 10th to win it.
Perrin Sulzle led the Bolts with three hits, three runs, four RBIs and two steals, while Cody Damman, Colton Moffit, Cael Shepley and Kolton Hill all had two hits.
Damman chipped in three runs, one RBI, one walk and three steals, Moffit finished with two RBIs and Shepley scored two runs, drove in five and walked twice.
Jake Travis had one hit but added three runs, two walks, two hit by pitches and four steals. Cael Wishman tallied three walks, two runs and two steals and James Esqueda finished with two runs and three walks. The Bolts finished with 13 steals.
Moffit got this first varsity pitching win in relief. He allowed no runs on one hit with eight strikeouts, two walks and one hit batter in 4 2/3 innings.
Bo Gerbracht led AGWSR (0-2) with four hits, three runs and four RBIs.
North Mahaska 6, Baxter 5
NEW SHARON — The Bolts were limited to five hits and they committed seven errors during a 6-5 loss to North Mahaska on Wednesday.
Sulzle, Travis, Shepley, Hill and Ben Richardson all had one hit. Shepley also walked twice and Richardson scored two runs, had two RBIs, walked twice and stole two bases.
Damman tossed six innings but got the no-decision after North Mahaska (1-1) scored its winning runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Baxter trailed 2-0 after four and 4-1 after five, but the Bolts rallied with a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh.
North Mahaska plated two in the seventh to get the walk-off win.
Damman allowed three earned runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking two.
Travis pitched the seventh but got just one out before North Mahaska ended the game. The runs against Travis were unearned as the Bolts committed seven errors in the loss.
