STATE CENTER — Eleigh Davis was locked in on the back nine at the Heart of Iowa Athletic Conference girls’ golf tournament on Wednesday.
The Mustang senior’s 39 on the final nine holes at the par 72 Lincoln Valley Golf Course pushed her into the final all-conference position during the annual conference meet.
Davis shot 91 to lead the Mustangs to fourth in the eight-team field.
Nevada won the conference championship with a 349. Roland-Story (369), West Marshall (372), PCM (408) and South Hamilton (418) completed the top five and Saydel (427), Greene County (498) and Perry (no team score) rounded out the field.
Davis’ career-best 91 placed her in eighth overall. The top eight individual finishers are named to the all-conference team.
Riley Johannes was PCM’s next-best golfer with a career-best 100. Gretchen Uitermarkt had back-to-back 53s for a career-best 106 and Meredith Chipps had the final counting score with a career-best 111.
Johannes’ nine-hole splits were 52-48. Davis shot 52 on the front nine.
Emilyn Davis (career-best 113) and Brelee Berger (career-best 120) had non-counting scores.
Nevada’s Olivia Axmear was the meet medalist with an 80 and Roland-Story’s Brinley Carlson was the runner-up with an 83.
Mustangs finish third in road triangular
KNOXVILLE — There wasn’t much room for error during a triangular at Pine Knolls Golf Club on Monday.
PCM, Saydel and host Knoxville were separated by just four strokes, but the Mustangs finished third with a 231.
The Mustangs had finishers 3-4-5, but Knoxville won the meet title with a 227 and Saydel fired a 229.
Eleigh Davis carded a 50 and finished third overall to lead PCM. Davis chipped in for birdie on No. 2 and then holed out from 90 yards out for eagle on the par 4 No. 9.
Johannes took fourth with a 54, Uitermarkt was fifth with a 57 and Berger and Emilyn Davis had 70s as the final counting score. Chipps turned in a non-counting 75.
Knoxville’s Faith Roozeboom was the meet medalist with a 43 and Saydel’s Kaydence Butters had a 49 as the runner-up medalist.
