PCM boys win once at EBF Rocket Relays

Tigerhawks score 35 points in eighth place

EDDYVILLE — One victory and two second- and third-place finishes highlighted the PCM boys’ track and field day at the EBF Rocket Relays on Tuesday.

The Mustangs won the 4x200-meter relay, grabbed the silver medal in the distance medley relay and scored 76 points in sixth place.

Colfax-Mingo also was in the field and Carter Gibson and Xavier Woods led the Tigerhawks to a 35-point night.

Due to their Senior Trip, the Mustangs did not have the services of their seniors for this meet.

PCM’s 4x200 relay team included Jacob Wendt, Adrien Robbins, Griffin Olson and Evan Jones and they finished in 1 minute, 34.37 seconds.

The runner-up distance medley relay team featured Carter Burns, Jack Jungling, Gabe Hobbs and Joe Shaver and they completed the race in 4:04.95.

Robbins, Jones, Wendt and Hobbs teamed up to finish third in the sprint medley relay. They finished in 1:39.97.

The Mustangs scored double points in the long jump and shot put.

In the long jump, Gavin Van Gorp was second in 19 feet, 7 inches and Wendt placed fifth in 18-1.

Mark Bussan (42-8 1/2) and Kaden Clark (41-6 3/4) were 4-5 in the shot put, Van Gorp finished third in the 110 high hurdles in 16.12 seconds and Riley Graber ran 57.6 in the 400 to place fifth.

Host EBF edged Pella Christian to win the meet championship with 128 points. The Eagles were second with 124 and the rest of the top five was Chariton (107), Davis County (106) and Knoxville (99).

PCM (76), East Marshall (56) and Colfax-Mingo (35) completed the field.

Gibson and Woods were part of every top-five finish for the Tigerhawks.

Woods, Gibson, Izaiah Lewis and Wyatt Thornton placed third in the shuttle hurdle relay. They finished the race in 1:13.61.

Gibson and Woods were fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400 hurdles with times of 1:01.8 and 1:02.91. Gibson also took fourth in the 110 high hurdles in 16.97 seconds and Woods placed fourth in the high jump with a leap of 5-10.
