Delaney Cobler and Kaitlyn Bloom celebrated a victory on their Senior Night. But it was the lone win for the Newton girls’ tennis team during a Little Hawkeye Conference matchup against Class 1A No. 6 Pella on Tuesday night.
All 11 matches on the Aurora Heights Park courts went straight sets. The Lady Dutch wrapped up the win after a 6-0 run in singles matches.
Cobler and Bloom teamed up to win their No. 5 doubles match 6-4, 6-3.

Izzy Wilson and Roxanna Almazan came the closest to wins in singles. Wilson was defeated 6-4, 6-3 and Almazan lost 6-2, 6-3.
Almazan and Avery Potter also lost the second set of their No. 3 doubles match 6-3.
Notes: Almazan, Bloom, Cobler, Emily Wermager and Keelyn Carbajal were recognized for Senior Night. Wermager and Carbajal won two junior varsity matches against Pella. ... The Cardinals continued to play without No. 1 singles player Lauryn Garrett. She missed Tuesday’s meet because of an injury.
