NEVADA — Four wins and 15 top-three finishes lifted the Baxter boys’ track and field team to a meet championship at the Dave Robinson Relays on Thursday.
The Bolts collected double points in three events, won a pair of relays and showed off its depth in a meet hosted by Colo-NESCO.
Baxter scored 136 points in first place. Lynnville-Sully (106) finished 10 points back of runner-up Collins-Maxwell (116) for second and Coon Rapids-Bayard (87) and BGM (83) were not too far behind in fourth and fifth, respectively.
The rest of the nine-team field featured Colo-NESCO (49), GMG (43), Colfax-Mingo (16) and Meskwaki Settlement School (8).
The two individual wins came from Cody Samson and Trice Clapper. Samson won the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 13.55 seconds and Clapper grabbed a victory in the shot put with a toss of 47 feet, 2 1/2 inches.

The Bolts won the 4x800 and 4x400 relays. In the 4x800, Perrin Sulzle, Samson, Logan Jones and Cody Damman won the race in 9:16.2. The 4x400 team of Cade Robinson, Cainan Travis, Logan Rainsbarger and Carson Scroggins won the race in 3:42.57.
One of Baxter’s three individual runner-up finishes came from Matt Richardson in the 3,200. He finished the race in 10:50.82. He also placed third in the 1,600 with a time of 4:58.59.
Rainsbarger and Cainan Travis scored double points in the long jump. Rainsbarger was the runner-up with a leap of 19-1 1/2 and Cainan Travis had a third-place mark of 18-7 1/4.
Rainsbarger also finished second in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.32 seconds.
The shuttle hurdle relay team of Rainsbarger, Ashton Kerwin, Keenan Varner and Jones finished second in 1:07.81.

In the distance medley relay, the team of Robinson, Treyton Travis, Samson and Sulzle came in second in 3:57.94.
Jones (1:01.69) and Sulzle (1:03.79) finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 400 hurdles, Jake Travis (12.06) placed third in the 100 and Scroggins (56.91) was fourth in the 400.
Carter Smith (118-0) also took fourth in the discus, Treyton Travis (5-8) placed third in the high jump and the 4x100 relay team of Robinson, Scroggins, Jake Travis and Cainan Travis took third in 46.0 seconds.
The final top-six finish came in the 800. Eli Dee gave the Bolts double points in sixth with a time of 2:30.81.
The Hawks registered six wins. Corder Noun Harder (11.88) won the 100, Conner Maston (51.34) finished first in the 400 and James Gruver (55.22) secured a win in the 400 hurdles.

Maston also won the high jump with a leap of 6-0 and Hendrick Lowry won the 1,600 in 4:56.91.
The final victory came in the 4x100 relay. The team of Kyle Squires, Noun Harder, Bryce Richard and Maston won the race in 45.28.
The Hawks’ lone second-place finish came from Terran Gosselink in the 800. He crossed the finish line in 2:16.9.
L-S was third in two events. Zach Morningstar placed third in the 3,200 with a time of 11:57.22. Squires had a mark of 43-1 1/2 to place third in the shot put.
The other top-six finishes came from Jack Bowlin (57.40) in the 400, Michael Spooner (5:38) in the 1,600 and Isaac Ver Ploeg (109-1) in the discus. All three Hawks placed sixth in their events.
Colfax-Mingo got a fourth-place finish from Owen Ament (12:55.12) in the 3,200 and Carter Gibson (16.86) and Xavier Woods (16.96) finished fourth and fifth, respectively in the 110 high hurdles.
