Tigerhawk grapplers get into win column against former HOIC rivals

Colfax-Mingo opens home season with three dual losses

DES MOINES — Colfax-Mingo’s wrestling team got into the win column for the first time this season on Thursday.

Led by Isaiah Baucom and Cason Fitch, the Tigerhawks downed Roland-Story, South Hamilton and Saydel during a non-conference road quadrangular against former Heart of Iowa Conference rivals.

The Tigerhawks were 11-13 in contested matches but took 11 forfeits in the three duals.

Colfax-Mingo was 4-4 in contested matches during a 48-30 win over Roland-Story. There was one double forfeit in the bout and C-M had a 4-1 advantage in forfeits.

Josue Rodriguez (113), Fitch (120), William Zook (138) and Austin Lane (182) all won by fall, while Tony Buenrostro (126), Sullivan Wilkins (132), Seth Brant (145) and Baucom (170) all took forfeits.

In the 40-27 win over host Saydel, C-M was 4-4 in contested bouts and it took three forfeits. There were two double forfeits and the Eagles accepted one forfeit.

The Tigerhawks got pins from Class 1A No. 10 John McGill (160), Donavan Baucom (220) and Isaiah Baucom and Zook, Lane and Davian Long (145) all took forfeits. Fitch scored an 8-0 win by major decision.

Colfax-Mingo scored a narrow 42-36 win over South Hamilton but was 3-5 in contested matches. Rodriguez, Buenrostro, Wilkins and Teagan Dybevik all took forfeits, while Fitch, McGill and Isaiah Baucom all won by fall.

Isaiah Baucom and Fitch both were 3-0 with two pins, Buenrostro was 2-0 with two forfeits and Rodriguez, Wilkins, Zook, Lane and McGill all won twice. Wilkins took two forfeits and McGill won twice by fall.

Tigerhawks open home slate with three losses

COLFAX — McGill won three times by fall, but the rest of the Tigerhawks struggled during a home quadrangular on Tuesday.

Colfax-Mingo finished 7-23 in contested matches against Ogden, Woodward-Granger and Perry.

The host Tigerhawks lost 46-24 to Ogden and were defeated 66-12 and 63-12 by W-G and Perry, respectively.

McGill and Dybevik both scored pins against Woodward-Granger and McGill won by fall and Rodriguez took a forfeit in the loss to Perry.

C-M was 2-8 in contested matches and gave up three forfeits in the loss to W-G. The Tigerhawks were 1-8 against the Bluejays and they gave up three forfeits.

In the loss to Ogden, C-M was 4-5 in contested matches and the Bulldogs were handed three forfeits. McGill and Lane both won by fall and Isaiah Baucom and Seth Brant won by decisions. Baucom won 4-3 and Brant scored an 11-9 victory.
