Mustangs finish second at Davis County

Teeter, DeRaad lead PCM cross country team at Lake Fisher

BLOOMFIELD — Abi Teeter, Reagan Vannoy, Makayla True and Coby DeRaad all finished in the top 10 and came home with medals as PCM’s cross country teams finished second at the Davis County Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 8.

Teeter’s runner-up finish in the girls’ 5K race led all Mustangs at Lake Fisher. DeRaad’s fifth-place finish highlighted the boys in their 5K race.

Davis County won both meet championships. The hosts won the boys’ side with 17 points. PCM was the runner-up with 48 points and Albia finished third with 73 points. Sigourney, Moravia, Centerville, Keota and Moulton-Udell all had incomplete teams.

Sigourney’s Troy Klett won the boys’ 5K race in 19 minutes, 37.51 seconds. The girls’ race winner was Davis County’s Karston Nebel and she was clocked in 22:40.91.

Davis County (25) and PCM (32) were separated by just seven points in the girls’ standings with the hosts coming out on top. Centerville, Sigourney, Moulton-Udell and Moravia had incomplete rosters.

Teeter’s runner-up time was clocked in 22:46.19. Vannoy finished sixth in 23:34.07, True took ninth in 24:16.11 and Jillian Fairbanks was 11th in 24:32.14. Riley DeVore (27:43.21) was the final scoring runner in 18th.

Alyce Engle (28:52.67) and Alexis Fagg (30:27.56) were 20th and 22nd, respectively, as non-scoring runners.

DeRaad’s fifth-place time in the boys’ race was clocked in 20:43.38. Every PCM Mustang in the race was a scoring runner as Wyatt Vannoy (23:11.59) finished 11th, Charlie Ford (23:46.05) took 14th, Carter Dudley (25:24.13) was 20th and Carson Taylor (25:27.69) came in 21st.

The top 10 finishers in both varsity races earn medals.
