Fourth-ranked Hawks rout East Marshall

Lynnville-Sully stays unbeaten after win over Mustangs

LE GRAND — A strong rushing attack and two special teams touchdowns led Lynnville-Sully’s football team to another victory on Friday night.

This time, the Class A No. 4 Hawks blocked two punts and used a fast start to down Class 1A East Marshall 49-7.

Corder Noun Harder rushed for 143 yards and four touchdowns on seven carries and the Hawks gained 275 yards on the ground in all. The L-S defense held East Marshall (0-3) to 165 total yards and 25 rushing yards.

L-S led 20-0 after one quarter and Noun Harder scored the first and third TDs of the game on 42- and 21-yard runs. Keegan DeWitt’s blocked punt and 2-yard return was the other score.

Conner Maston and Noun Harder both ran for 33-yard touchdowns in the second to put the Hawks (3-0) in front 34-7 at halftime.

Noun Harder’s 20-yard TD run was the only score in the third. Wyatt Mathis blocked a punt in the fourth and it was recovered in the end zone by Blake Van Wyk.

Evan Squires rushed six times for 47 yards, C.J. Nikkel gained 40 yards on his carries and Maston’s lone carry was the 33-yard TD. He also had a 10-yard catch and the only other completion for L-S was a 12-yard catch by Noun Harder.

The L-S defense was led by Dawson James, who had three tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. Mathias Torres tallied six tackles, Squires finished with four tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss and Noun Harder tallied four tackles.

Lane Fisk finished with 3.5 tackles, Van Wyk registered three tackles and one sack and Jacob Fogle added two tackles and one sack. Maston snagged an interception and collected three tackles.

The Hawks have outscored their first three opponents 131-20.
