Baxter football starts season with rout of Colo-NESCO

Damman leads Bolts to road victory over Royals

COLO — Cody Damman rushed for 111 yards, passed for 141 and scored four total touchdowns, leading Baxter’s football team to a 50-8 road win over Colo-NESCO on Friday night.

The Bolts outscored the Royals 14-0 in each of the first three quarters and both teams scored eight points in the fourth.

Baxter (1-0) rushed for 219 yards and averaged 6.8 yards per carry in the win.

Damman was 9-of-11 through the air for 141 yards and three scores. He rushed 12 times for 111 yards and another score. Defensively, Damman registered seven tackles and one interception.

Baxter’s defense held Colo-NESCO to 192 total yards and limited the Royals (1-1) to 2.7 yards per carry.

Jake Travis led the Bolts’ defense with nine tackles and one sack. He also rushed for 21 yards and a TD and hauled in two catches for 41 yards and a score.

Evan Mahoney rushed 10 times for 73 yards and two scores and had three catches for 26 yards in his Baxter debut.

Treyton Travis added two catches for 55 yards and a score and Cael Shepley collected two catches for 14 yards and a TD.

Cody Samson tallied 7.5 tackles for the Bolts’ defense. Trice Clapper registered five tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss and Shepley added 4.5 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Cainan Travis finished with 3.5 tackles, hauled in one catch for 15 yards and rushed one time for nine yards.
