BROOKLYN — Powered by four wins, Lynnville-Sully’s boys track and field team placed third at the Bear Trax Classic on Tuesday.
Four Hawks scored in double-figures, leading the squad to 94 points in all. BCLUW won the meet with 112 points, while Bondurant-Farrar was second with 101.
PCM was shut out of the win column, but the Mustangs doubled up in the 400-meter hurdles and placed second in the shuttle hurdle relay to help them place seventh in the team standings.
Iowa Valley (81) and East Marshall (74) completed the top five and Pella Christian (59), PCM (39) and Highland (29) rounded out the eight-team Class A field.
“My main emphasis before getting off the bus to the guys was having themselves ready, allowing plenty of time for warm-up, and staying alert to what was going on because this meet moves very quickly and there isn’t a lot of down time,” L-S boys track and field coach Darin Arkema said. “For the most part, the guys did a fantastic job with this and they were the benefactors from it with many great performances.”
The Hawks’ got individual wins from Corder Noun Harder, Ryan Annee and Conner Maston. Noun Harder won the 100-meter dash in 11.63 seconds, Maston ran to a win in the 400 in 53.5 and Annee leaped to a victory in the long jump with a career-best mark of 20 feet, 0 1/2 inch.
The sprint medley relay team of Noun Harder, Bryce Richards, Josh Hardenbrook and Maston won the race in 1 minute, 39.18 seconds.
The Hawks also finished second four times and claimed 11 top-fives in all.

Kyle Squires was the runner-up in the shot put with a career-best toss of 43-10 and Hardenbrook finished second in the 200 in 24.15.
The Hawks’ 4x100 and distance medley relays both were second.
The 4x100 team included Squires, Annee, Hardenbrook and Noun Harder and the foursome finished in 45.08. The distance medley relay included Squires, Annee, Hendrick Lowry and James Gruver and they hit the finish line in 4:01.64.
“Again, I was very pleased and proud of our guys’ efforts, preparation, and handling of situations throughout the night,” Arkema said. “We are two weeks out from our conference meet and three weeks from state qualifying, and there is still plenty of room for improvement and growth from everyone. I like the direction we are heading, but can’t be satisfied with where we are at.”
The other top-five tally in relays came in the shuttle hurdle. The team of Gruver, Richards, Austin Larson and Lowry were fourth in 1:16.38.
L-S also got fourth-place finishes from Lowry (career-best 2:21.64) in the 800, Zach Morningstar (season-best 11:18.29) in the 3,200 and Mason Rodibaugh (115-1 3/4) in the discus.

The fifth-place tallies came from Morningstar (5:20.91) in the 1,600, Gruver (1:00.97) in the 400 hurdles and Maston (5-6) in the high jump.
For PCM, Olson and Gavin Fenton were 2-4 in the 400 hurdles. Olson ran the race in 59.69 and Fenton finished in 1:00.52.
The duo also teamed up with Gavin Van Gorp and Trey Broderson to place second in the shuttle hurdle relay. That foursome finished the race in 1:09.28.
The next best finish came in the 4x100 relay where Kaden Hale, Jake Eslinger, Sawyer Bouwkamp and Broderson were third in 46.43.

The 4x800 relay team of Bouwkamp, Riley Graber, Gavin DeRaad and Carson Hansen finished fourth in a season-best 10:09.15 and the sprint medley relay team of Aidan Anderson, Hale, Olson and Aydan Camu was fifth in 1:44.59.
Caleb Kuefner (39-8) was fourth in the shot put, Ben Buys (106-3) took fifth in the discus and Jake Winters (20.97) finished sixth in the 110 high hurdles.
