C-M girls track finishes third, PCM takes fifth at EBF Eddy Relays

Four wins highlight Tigerhawks’ night in Eddyville

EDDYVILLE — Four Tigerhawks scored at least 10 points and Colfax-Mingo’s girls track and field team registered 18 top-five finishes during the EBF Eddy Relays on Tuesday.

Four victories powered the Tigerhawks to third place in the large-school division team standings.

There were 17 total schools but Class A was made up of nine programs. Colfax-Mingo scored 101 points in third, while PCM was fifth with 54 points.

Davis County was the Class A champion with 168 points. Host EBF (113) was the runner-up and Iowa Valley (66) was the other team in the top five. Pella Christian (47), Sigourney (40.5), Centerville (35.5) and Chariton (16) completed the nine-team field.

Three of Colfax-Mingo’s four wins came in individual events. Kyra Lester won the discus with a toss of 113 feet, 4 inches, Carley Underwood grabbed a win in the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 14.13 seconds and Trinity Smith ran to a victory in the 3,000 as she crossed the finish line in 12:42.46.

The final win came in the shuttle hurdle relay as the foursome of Mackayla Lind, Kylie Doty, McKenna Pleima and Underwood won the race in 1:13.99.

The Tigerhawks also were third in the event. The team of Lily Webster, Samantha Haney, Devan Chadwick and Shy Steck finished in 1:24.66.

PCM’s lone win came from Rylee Gallaher in the shot put. Her best throw was marked at 33-4.

The Tigerhawks doubled up in four events.

Joining Lester in the discus was McKayla Smith and she finished fourth with a toss of 92-7. Lester (33-2) and McKayla Smith (32-8 1/4) were 2-3 in the shot put, Abi Rawlins (13-8) and Trinity Smith (13-4 1/4) placed 4-5 in the long jump and Underwood (17.02) and Doty (19.4) took 2-4 in the 100 hurdles.

Besides winning the 3,000, Trinity Smith also was fourth in the 1,500 in 6:10.33 and sixth in the 800 in 3:00.13.

C-M was the runner-up in the 4x800 relay and fourth in the 4x400.

In the 4x800, Adalai Schroeder, Danica Linn, Maggie Schroeder and Rachael Uecker finished second in 12:02.7.

The 4x400 team of Uecker, Linn, Adalai Schroeder and Felicity Woods were fourth in 4:58.76.

The final three top-five finishes came in the 4x100, 4x200 and distance medley relays.

The 4x100 relay team of Rawlins, Lind, Doty and Pleima finished fifth in 56.93. The 4x200 team of Rawlins, Lind, Uecker and Pleima was fifth in 2:03.05.

The distance medley relay was fifth and the foursome of Haney, Karmylia Snyder, Woods and Adalai Schroeder finished in 5:20.29.

The Mustangs got a second-place finish from Addison Steenhoek in the 400 hurdles. She finished in 1:16.94. Tiffani Koonce also was second in the 1,500 in 5:54.29.

Gallaher was third in the discus with a toss of 93-5. Ryan Bennett (14.25) finished fourth in the 100, Lily Bowen (1:08.07) took fourth in the 400 and Sophia Steenhoek (2:56.43) placed fifth in the 800.

PCM’s distance medley relay team was third with Stella Stravers, Shannon, Elle Davis and Koonce. They finished in 5:01.14.

Avery Houser, Shannon, Bowen and Taryn Steenhoek were fourth in the 4x100 in 56.34.

The 4x400 relay was fifth and that team included Riley DeVore, Davis, MaKayla True and Sophia Steenhoek and they finished in 5:00.73.
