PCM girls win, boys lose at Greene County

Foster’s career-high leads Mustang girls past Rams

JEFFERSON — Emily Foster scored a career-high during PCM’s girls basketball win over Greene County on Friday night.

The Mustangs broke open a close game with a big second quarter and stayed in front the rest of the way during a 48-22 road victory in Heart of Iowa Conference play.

The 22 points allowed was a season-low for PCM’s defense. It was the second straight game the Mustangs scored more than 45 points.

Foster scored a career-best 10 points and added four rebounds and six steals. Addison Steenhoek had nine points, four assists and seven steals and Eliana Buswell added seven points and four rebounds.

The Mustangs (2-5 overall, 2-1 in conference play) led 8-6 after one but outscored the Rams 14-3 in the second. PCM won the second half 26-13.

Riley Johannes chipped in six points and five boards, Paige Steenhoek collected five points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals and Madie Reed registered five points and five boards. Sophia Steenhoek scored four points.

The Mustangs won the game despite shooting 36.5 percent from the floor, 2-of-17 from long range and 8-of-15 from the free-throw line. PCM committed 20 turnovers.

Brianna Habben led Greene County (1-3, 0-3) with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Rams were 1-of-14 from 3-point range and 7-of-16 from the line.

Greene County shot 17.5 percent from the floor and committed 29 turnovers.

BOYS

Greene County 71, PCM 58

PCM’s boys basketball team was held under 60 points for the fifth time this season during a 71-58 loss to Greene County on Friday.

The Mustangs allowed more than 70 points for a third time in their six games this winter.

Four players scored in double figures but the rest of the roster contributed just four total points as the Mustangs fell to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the HOIC.

Durant Van Dyke had 16 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks and Carson VandeLune scored a team-high 17 points and added three rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Jacob Wendt had 10 points, six boards, three assists and three steals and Matt Rosonke registered 12 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Cade Lindsay grabbed two boards and Kaleb DeVries dished out four assists.

The Mustangs shot 43 percent from the floor but were just 4-of-19 from 3-point range. They made 13-of-18 from the line.

Greene County improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
